Welcome to Troop 8 in Jackson, Mississippi, a member of the Boy Scouts Andrew Jackson Council.
While officially chartered in January 1921, Troop 8 held its first organized meeting in 1920 making it today one of the oldest, continuously sponsored Boy Scout troops in America by the same organization, First Baptist Church Jackson. We take pride in our long, rich history as well as the many leaders and Scouts that have made Troop 8 what it is today. Troop 8 has the distinction of awarding over 500 Scouts the rank of Eagle since 1923.
The troop currently meets almost every Monday night, with a few exceptions, between the months of August and May from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Christian Life Center (2nd floor).
Our typical Monday night meetings consist of learning Scout skills, working on advancement and merit badges and planning for upcoming campouts and other activities. Troop 8 typically has at least one camping trip or outdoor activity every month between September and April. Additionally, groups of Scouts attend the various Boy Scouts of America Summer Camps offered all across the country. Please check the Troop Calendar for dates of the various activities.
We extend an invitation to you to come visit us any time. You are making a wise decision in considering one of the best organizations in history as well as one of the most distinctive Troops around.
